My little sons a transfer old in the mission now! Not counting the MTC of course.
Anyway this week was pretty solid. It was Thanksgiving! Me, my comp, and this other newby gringo yankee in the ward made tacos. Classic American Thanksgiving. I think I have pictures. They were pretty good though, and relatively cheap! The other kid had brought some taco seasoning from home.
We also had intercambios this Tuesday with my DL and his son. We switched kids for a day. His name is Elder Beckstead, he´s from Utah but his parents are from Venezuela, we had a good time. My son also had a good time with my Paraguayo DL.
Things are goin good down here! We´re finding a lot of people that seem super ready to recieve the gospel, sometimes it just seems impossible to find em again! But I´m ready to keep working with em and finding more. I was in my last two areas very little time so I kinda forgot how it felt to know my area and know that I still have time to work here.
Also my son met my dad! The classic family pic is of my mexican dad and my californian son. My dad finishes his mission today, along with my last two comps, Elder Jesson and Elder McMillan.
Oh yeah I think I also threw in a picture we took in Gibson street back in Adrogué.
Well, this week we did actually paint a couple of places, one of which being the apartment in Las Flores¡ my first area¡ i hope i can get some pics up here, we´ll see. But we were also able to do a decent amount of proselyting with the little time we had so that was good¡
Also sorry for the ¡ ,this computer cant quite produce a normal exclamation point, but thats life.
So on Saturday I got a call from the assistant. They called a new assistant this week because one of the current ones goes home soon, so some elder had to take his place as Zone LEader, then some other Elder had to take his place, and they called good ol Gibby to take the 3rd elders place as trainer¡
I´m now with Elder McConkie from Orange County¡ I got here a couple hours ago but I can already tell he´s a baller. We´re gunna have a good time, and I´m gunna be able to work hard here to finish my mission instead of helping out with the offices. I´m not complaining about having been there half in the offices, but I am super excited to be here. My ward is called La Ferrere. I had been here once before because its close to my old area, Catán 3.
So thats the biggest news for now, I´m super excited, and even more grateful. God lives, he loves us, and nothing is a surprise to him¡ He prepares us for the future, we just gotta be humble enough to realize, accept, and make happen all the stuff he wants us to do. This Church is true, I love you all, and I let you know more about this place next week.
No pictures yet again, sorry peeps, this computers a little slow and i also forgot my adaptor thing in Adrogué, so next week for sure hopefully.
Transfers! Who woulda thought. Because of the large number of missionaries coming in they did transfers a week early this time. Me and my comp, Elder McMillan, are still comps but they moved us to a place called Adrogué, where the offices of the mission are located, we arent office elders though, but we do live with them. We are also in a trio with my excomp Elder Jesson!
Super weird. We´re not really sure what happened but me and my comp are kinda bummed cuz we had a Venezuelan family who was gunna get baptized this Saturday, but we had to say our goodbyes unexpectedly.
So my new pension is massive! I think we´re gunna be like 8 living there or something, not sure. Next week I´ll know more about my area and why its like this and all that. We had gotten calls on Saturday telling us we were gunna do the same thing but in a different area, and then today the remis (taxi) came super early (they weren´t able to call and let us know at what time they were coming) and took us here instead haha.
Anyway this last week we were able to hear from Elder Kosneslousky or something. It was super awesome! Him and his wife and the assistants and President and his wife all spoke, it was pretty cool, we had a good time. Also because we had to travel so far to get there we stayed in my old pension in Banfield 1 the night before! It was super weird to be in one of my old areas.
Well both my comps finish their missions at the end of these next 7 weeks, so we´ll see how this goes. Have a good week everyone, no pictures today!
Well down here in the Mission Field theres a thing called whiteout, where the missionaries in an area are both transferred out, and 2 missionaries arrive there not nowing a thing about the members or the area.
Me and my old pal Elder McMillan are about to experience what a whiteout is really like up here in Villa Madero. Its awesome because Elder McMillan is one of my good friends from the beginning of my mission, and also because Villa Madero is the northernmost area of our mission. So I have officially shared borders with the Bahía Blanca, BsAs West, BsAs East, and BsAs North missions. All of em. Isnt that nifty? I kinda always was one to just drift around the outside anyway. Also we are a highway away from the capital of Buenos Aires, and by that i mean the whole area that is none as capital, nowhere near the obelisko and all that jenk. at least i dont think. not 100% sure. Anyway, I just got here today.
My last week in Catan was pretty good! We had a Family Home Evening with the Paso Guillén family and the Monaca Family, which went really well! We talked a little bit about temples and Family History. Great time. The next day only Camila and Alberto made it to church, but we were super greatful for that anyway, cuz it was kinda a rainy morning, and not a lot of members made it actually haha. We also were invited to a huge asado and we all ate so much that we could barely eat the dinner that some other members invited us to that night.
Here´s Camila and Alberto and then Yamila and Cristian, the children of a different family who always gave us lunch and who are awesome, and then the Monaca Family, then when I was headed out of Catán. Elder Hall, the chunky one, goes home tonight, so it was a pretty interesting weekend. He goes home honorably by the way, just so thats clear.
Well, transfers! Me and my comp stay the same! Except I`m not District Leader anymore haha! So I`m gunna have a lot more time to do things now. It`s gunna be good. we`re gunna finally baptize here in Catan 3B.
Death because Elder Gonzalez is goin back to Chile! He leaves today. It`s been a super awesome transfer, this kid is nuts. If I had more time I would put some more pictures on here with him, but anyway.
Last week the President of the Quorum of the Seventy came, President Clayton! It was super awesome! He talked to our whole mission and the Buenos Aires MTC Missionaries! So I got to see all my old friends from the missino too! It was pretty cool. He called us to repentance in a lot of things, and the mission has recently gotten a lot better, but now the cycle of improvement continues with a little boost.
This Saturday the other Elders baptized a miracle family! They were literally praying to God to guide them to right church when the Elders knocked on their door 3 weeks ago! They super converts! I had the opportunity to do their baptismal interviews, and it went amazing. The Dad already has a super strong testimony, and the kids are extremely respectful!
Also we did a service project for a member. Gonzalez wasnt there cuz he was messin around with the other Elders who died in the Capital of Buenos Aires.
HA! Gotchya. Transfers are still 6 weeks. But anyway, this week was crazy.
Also I got transfered out of Guernica. They put me in a place called Catan. In the Catan 3 Ward. Its gunna be a hoot. I can tell this is gunna be a great place of learning and teaching. Oh also they kept me as District Leader, also my new comp is Elder Jesson from Pennsylvania. I don`t know how to spell that. He`s super cool! He was actually in my district when I was in Las Flores! So we`re kinda jacked to be comps, and we`re gunna work super hard here. He knows the area pretty well, so here goes nothing!
Anyway, on Saturday the ward had an activity where a bunch of members came and we went out and visited some people, then had lunch, then cleaned the chapel. I mean the church. It was super awesome! We got to visit a lot of people as a ward. And then, on Sunday, the chapel was full! Literally over a hundred people came! Thats like 20 more than normal, it was amazing! We had a couple investigators, and so did the other Elders, and a butt ton of less actives came. It was awesome. So yeah they were all there for the confirmation of Nancy, which was super awesome, love those things.
So on Tuesday, Elder Teixeira finished his mission (honorably), which we all knew was coming, so me and Elder Kautai went to Alejandro Korn with him until Thursday. Then that night me and him stayed in his pensh. So I hardly slept in my own bed this week, but thats alright. Also I hardly spent any time with my comp, so that was weird. Also Elder Kautai came with me to Catan, he`s in the first ward, and in my district, so we`re just keepin the squad goin I guess.
Well, all in all, I`m pretty tired. But I aint here to rest, so we`re gunna see how this week goes in a new area with a new District, and it`s gunna be a good time. I love you all and I`ll see you next week!
